Last week, Anchorage Press reported that approximately 4,000 copies had been stolen while awaiting pickup for delivery. The ensuing public support and eagerness to read the forbidden issue was damn near overwhelming, as Editor Matt Hickman reports. The pen is mightier than the douchebag.

Then, big news for Fairbanks. The Annual World Eskimo-Indian Olympics begin next week! The event historically has drawn competitors from around the world, and is cherished as much for the sense of community as competition.

Alaska's musical prodigy, Ava Earl, releases her fourth album between high school and college. The momentum behind the young artist has been building with every release, and while this album was recently recorded in Nashville, Earl says it has roots all the way back to 2017.

Finally, the Biden administration said this week that it will end large-scale old-growth logging in America's largest national forest. This appears to be a step toward restoring the Roadless Rule as well as toward future conservation. Expect a court fight, if not clamorous tweets, from Governor Dunleavy.

Governor's office dead wrong on calling ALSC a 'subsidy'
The governor’s office got it wrong when it referred to $400,000 in state funding for the Alaska Legal Services Corp. as a subsidy. Guess they had to come up with a catchy explanation of why Gov. Mike Dunleavy vetoed the…
